In 2007, as he was preparing to retire from Pepsi, Reinemund joined the corporate boards of American Express, Marriott, and Exxon Mobil. Three years later he joined the Walmart board. In 2010, he was paid $927,318 to serve on these boards.[6] In addition, he owns shares in these companies that are currently worth $4.2 million.[7]

Since the beginning of the 2008 election cycle, Reinemund has given $17,500 in donations to Republican candidates and $10,000 to the political action committee (PAC) of Marriott International, a company on whose board of directors he serves.[17]

- Furman University: Reinemund will join the Furman University Board of Trustees in July 2012.[18]
- The Cooper Institute: Trustee (2003-present).[19] The organization supports research and communications in preventive medicine and public health.[20]
- Reinemund Family Foundation: Reinemund is the president of his family’s foundation. His wife, Gail T. Reinemund, is the foundation’s Vice-President, and his two sons, Steven and Jonathan, serve as directors.[21] At the end of 2010, the most recent year for which data are available, the foundation had $4.4 million in assets. In that year, it donated about $370,000, 70 percent of which went to the Cooper Institute.[22]
